Great Reads
time to time I will post some books which I enjoyed reading. I'm starting this list with some classics and some newer books as well.
Some of my favorite books:
I just completed the first book in the Stillhouse Lake thriller series by Rachel Caine. Watch my blog posts for a review of the book. I will give you a hint that it was a page turner that kept me up late nights because I was so captivated by the story.
One of my favorite authors, Catherine Ryan Hyde, has written more than thirty books, but I only just discovered her. I loved Worthy and Where We Belong to name only two. Her characters are so real you are sure they will walk off the pages. She's kept me awake many nights because I couldn't shut off my Kindle.
I read the four book series which started with Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani. The first book is a movie starring Ashley Judd and I found it to be fun but not nearly as good as the books - but isn't that usually the case. These are light, easy reads about a librarian in a very small Virginia town.
The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling) is a fabulous murder mystery with a very untypical hero. I absolutely loved this book the next installment is on my to read list. I have not read any of the Harry Potter books, nor even seen the movies so I had nothing to which compare this. I would definitely recommend it.
The Profiler's Daughter by P.M. Steffen which I loved. A great mystery with lots of suspense.
The Husband's Secret and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty - both fun, beachy reads.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - this was a really sweet book. I enjoyed the movie and my girlfriends cried at the end. Since I knew what to expect I didn't need the tissues.
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck - if you've never read this classic it should be on your list.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - a wonderful story for girls.
One for the Money or any of Janet Evanovich's first ten books in this series. I loved all of these until around book ten and then I felt the character needed to go in another direction. Pick a guy already Stephanie!
Just about anything by John Grisham - take your pick and you can't lose. Although I will admit to being disappointed in some of the endings.
A few of my favorite authors:
Anita Shreve
Anna Quindlen
Jodi Piccoult
Nicholas Sparks - when you need a little romance.
